I have read the instructions that came with the kit and the first thing I note is that

the seeds are divided into two packs. The venus flytrap and sundew are in pack 1

and the pitcher plants are in seed pack 2. The instuctions say the pitcher plants in seed pack 2 require

stratification before they will germinate. This means they have to be exposed to cold temperatures

for a while. I put them in the refrigerator like they say you are supposed and I have to leave them there

for 6 weeks. In the mean time lets get started on the sundew and venus flytrap.

First of all the mini greenhouse in the kit is too small for what I have in mind.

I sure it would work just fine for germinating the seeds but I want to give them room to grow without transplanting.

So I decided to ramp the whole thing up a bit by getting a large 20 inch planter and making

a terrarium out of it by simply putting a clear plastic sheet over it.

To make sure it gets good drainage I am going to start by putting some gravel in it.

There we go. Now for the soil.

Note the gravel to put in the bottom of the planter pots to promote drainage and the cfl light on the left.
